Adventures in Stain Removal

 This pale version of tie-dye is my attempt to obliterate a stain that I could not wash out.  There was a grease stain from either something I dribbled or that splattered on me while cooking.  No stain removal technique worked so I decided to play with rubber bands and bleach.  I succeeded in getting rid of the stain and fading the shirt and while it's not perfect, it basically saved the shirt.

Avoiding Plastic

I have resolved to stop buying anything in a plastic container, unless I can't avoid it.  After seeing news articles about the growing masses of plastic in large bodies of water, reading how the bottom has dropped out of the recycling market, resulting in a shortage of entities to take and re-use the material, I have decided the most responsible thing I can do as a citizen of our planet, is to avoid contributing to the waste cycle.

Tea Totalling

I made up another big batch of iced tea today -- my standard formula of White Jasmine, Green, Black and Ginger, with freshly squeezed lemon and also a bit of fresh ginger (steeped with the tea).  A little honey was added with the sugar for a change. It turned out very well!  We save a lot of money and calories making it at home.  The convenience is great too.

Second Sight

I am always thinking about what I can do with something next.  My whole obsession with re-using packing paper has been a past topic.  Today we got in an order with two rolls of tracing paper -- packed in lots of paper.  One long run of it.  I hope I didn't drive the architects too crazy unfolding and re-folding it.  That used to drive a former boss of mine crazy.  Then again, I am working in a "green" office where we're all about restoring, recycling and re-using.  A lot of presents can be wrapped or a lot of bags stuffed with this paper.
