Ooooh do I love Moon Pies. When I was a kid, they were Scooter Pies. They stopped being made, then I guess Little Debbie and other companies picked up the idea later on. Thank goodness!
If there are any MP fans out there, I want to share two ideas. First, if you want to up the yum factor, nuke your MP for about 3 - 5 seconds. What to do it one better? Nuke for 5 - 7 seconds and top with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. For extra credit, add rainbow sprinkles!!!
If anyone out there tries this, I want to know what you think. I'm off to make a MP Sundae now...
Moon Pies have been made by the Chattanooga Bakery since 1917. They are still made today. I hope they never quit.
ReplyDeleteLittle Debbie has never made Moon Pies.
Scooter pies are not made by Little Debbie. Little Debbie makes a Marshmallow pie.
I am a Southerner who has been eating Moon Pies since at least 1950, maybe earlier. I really love them and now I want one!
I appreciate your expertise. Like Lorraine, I am coping with the loss of my past favorite, the Scooter Pie and am grateful for Moon Pies. Admittedly, I'm not as knowledgeable on their history as I should be -- but I am thankful someone is making them!
DeleteI love me a moon pie. They are comfort food right up there with mashed potatoes and hot fudge.
ReplyDeleteThose.... and Cap'n Crunch!
DeleteI loved Scooter Pies when I was a kid in NY!! I am in the south now and caught a moon pie at a Mardi Gras parade. I can tell you, it did not taste like a Scooter Pie. It was really, really gross!
ReplyDeleteEverything was thicker in a Scooter Pie and the chocolate was darker. My sister had black cat and she named him Scooter Pie. He was big and sweet too!
