Closing Camp Again

Sadly, summer is over.  We just spent our last weekend at camp. It's hard to call it quits when you need to wear shorts and a tank top on your last weekend.  However, cold weather is on the way and the water is being shut off this week.  I cleaned out foodstuff and a few other things, and TBG will go back next week for a day to drain the water lines and pump anti-freeze through the system.

It's funny what end of year projects I end up doing when I take a final look at the place.  One thing I did was to get rid of moisturizers that would not handle freezing well, then tossing out stuff which was no longer effective (such as sun screen moisturizer that is five years old).  Once I started to purge in the bathroom, I decided to tidy up my cotton balls, swabs and dental floss picks.  Rather than keep them in bags that were mostly empty, I decided to put them all in jars.  I wish I had though to do that earlier.

Our dental products look a lot neater with the small flossers in jars.  We use them every night we spend there. The tooth powder in the small bottle is for Teddy.  We keep that over the winter -- although it cleans her teeth better than anything else, we relegate it to camp because the container is so small.

This is our pared down supply of health and beauty aids.  One way we know it's the end of the summer is that we are at the end of our deodorant.  Everyone who "weekends" like us jokes that you need one deodorant for the season.  We are sad when the sun no longer sets over the water, and when our stick of anti-perspirant is almost gone.  Both are signs that the end of the season is near.

We are hoping to get one more season out of our trailer.  It's served us well,  but it is wearing out.  The next one we buy will probably be a fifth wheel and we are looking to go with a used model we can pay cash for.  Seasonal rent is not cheap, but we love our waterfront spot.  It's a splurge but not ridiculously so.  A trailer payment is nuts and something we are not willing to do.

But alas, the season has to end and we are sad!
