Christmas at Work

Every year I make some sort of holiday offering for my co-workers.  This year, there are six people on my team, along with others who are temporarily squished into our row too.  There are also a couple of my other cronies I wanted to gift.  Last year I gave out big bars of cranberry soap.  This year I made small gift bags.  I used an assortment of items that I could buy in batches of a dozen.

These little favors contained a scent sachet, a cranberry scented tea light, candy, paper snow flakes, bells and candy.  They were cheap and easy to put together because everything was on sale.  This kind of gift is thoughtful without being "too much."  We have a Secret Santa gift swap on the 21st and I bought a Google Play gift card for that.  Dollar General had them for 10% off, so I made it under the $20 spending limit. I am making an Ugly Christmas sweatshirt because there will be a contest. I will post that when it's done.

I have a team of Client Support Specialists that help me out.  While I am an account/relationship manager, there are lots of things my clients need help with and this team takes their calls and emails, offer to help me with problems, and are just all around fine folks.  There are four who are assigned to the line of business I work for and I wanted to get them something too -- so I personalized Santa hats. I will drop them on their desks tomorrow with a small bottle of sparkling cider for each.

Gifts don't need to be expensive to show people you are thinking of them.  Anything that spreads happiness is fine by me! I am not religious but I sure do appreciate the spirit of the season.

  1. What a lovely gesture and you're quite right, you don't need to splash the cash to make someone happy. I bet your colleagues will be touched from receiving such a thoughtful present. x

    1. Thanx Vix! I think if you spend too much it embarrasses people anyway. The hats were a big hit too!

  2. Great gifts - One of our biggest clients is a call centre - hubby dropped off several boxes of chocolates for the staff today and they were very surprised and appreciative, people like to be recognized

    1. Our desks are so squished together that we feel like a call center. They've intermingled people from different teams and I was happy to include the others because this helps us all feel as if we are on the same team.

  3. I love what you did and like you said, it shows that you thought of them. I painted snowmen on rocks, packaged them nicely and gave them out to the office staff at my school. It didn't really cost much, just some time spent painting them and a few bucks for packaging supplies from the Dollar Tree.

    1. I envy your rock painting skills. I was surprised how appreciative people were over such a small gesture.
