My Dormitory Styled Life

As I have mentioned before, we are three years away from our master bedroom renovation.  Too much needs to be done to make it worthwhile to spend any real money or put any substantial effort into it now.  The totally blank walls, however, were driving me a bit crazy so I decided to drop a few bucks to hide at least one of them.  This hanging map blanket/tapestry will work for me for the next couple of years.  I would like to be industrious and paint the room, dressers and night stands, but I just don't have the gumption to take on that sort of project. If there is any money left over after we tackle the exterior of the house, we'll ask our contractor to paint it.

I found these hangings at Bed, Bath & Beyond as part of their back to school/campus & dorm room offerings.  They had three or four styles to choose from at $19.99 each.  I had a $10 off coupon if I spent $30, so I picked up two along with a contraption that makes hard boiled eggs without the shell.

A different hanging went into the second bedroom.  This room needs a re-do too, but I am also too lazy to tackle that.  We live in every room, so losing one while we updated it would be inconvenient.  That, plus the cost, is one reason why I am putting that off.  I'd rather do it once, do it right, then be done.

My cheap little efforts probably don't make a big difference.  And it is probably pathetic that two 56 year olds decorate the same way they did in college.  But the reality is that hardly anyone sees these rooms and when we are in them, we are asleep.  I can live with this for another couple of years!

  1. I really love the second one, but I cannot see the first one very well. It is your life, so who cares what others think? Let me know if the egg contraption works well.

    1. Okay, I biggified the first one and really love it, too.

    2. We have a thing for maps so that is why I liked them so much. Tommy isn't into gold that much -- so I was happy they had the blue one.

The egg thing isn't bad, but the first batch was a little under-done. The white broke when he took it out of the cup. He has been bringing them to work and having them over an English muffin, and likes not having to peel them! So far I'll give it a "B" grade and report back when I've used it more.
