2017

It is a new year and with it, I have made new resolutions.  My work life balance was so out of whack in the last few months of 2016, that it negatively impacted my health, which is why I had neglected the blog.  My resolve is to be focused and mindful, disengage from work when I leave for the day, and re-introduce activities that are healthy for my mind and body.

The Big Guy and the pup are the most important things to me, and I'd neglected them as well.  Being with close friends to ring in the new year made me realize just how much of a sacrifice I had made in the misguided effort to power through an unmanageable workload.  In 2017, my plan is to have happy time with T&T, play my guitar more, blog, gather with friends and live each experience fully.  Teddy knows how to do that, and I owe it to Tommy to be fully there when I am with him.  Last night was a happy night and my goal is to have that kind of happiness as frequently as possible.

I wish the best and tons of happiness to all of you as well!

    1. I anticipate a struggle but have read a good book on the topic and think I am at a good place to start. I hope it's not too hard of a struggle - but it will involve effort!

  3. Yay! More Happy sounds like a good plan!

Believe it or not, even with my mostly "passive income" work from home lifestyle, I still struggle with this. I don't really believe in resolutions per se, because it just sets me up for feeling like a failure, but I have been trying really, REALLY hard to get back to some healthier habits like going to bed earlier and doing yoga in the morning instead of leaping right on the computer and jumping right into "busyness."

So here's to balance for 2017!

    1. Balance, and a lot of stretching for me! The worst part of it all was that I stopped exercising. What a dumb move.

    1. I have a new boss who will also be a big help with the balance part. It was also cool that Teddy was willing to keep her party outfit on!

    1. And a great 2017 to you! Skipping the blog helped to add to my unbalance and I want to get back to my "peeps!"

  6. Wow, haven't seen a photo of you in a while and you look great! Your hair is long and it appears you are much smaller.
Good Luck with your 2017 goals!

    1. Thank you! I'm really not smaller but that should happen once I get back into a good swimming routine again. I cut my own bangs so I can grow out my hair. That way I don't go in regularly and have the ends trimmed. One of my small goals is to grow another couple of inches on the length!

  7. Lovely photo of the three of you and it perhaps reflects your resolution to leave your work at work and concentrate on home when you're there. My life/work balance was unbalanced and in 2007 I stepped off the carousel and got a life. It's not as financially good but it's so rich in so many other ways. Mindfullness helps me every day and that quiet time is as necessary as social interaction to me now. Happy 2017 to you all. Catriona ( in a bright and cold Scotland)

    1. You are so right Catriona. I was not enjoying my friends toward the end of the year because stress clouded my mood. I am rich in friendship and need to be mindful of not squandering that. Happy 2017 to you!
